Animal owners should be more like parents

The use of animals has enabled mankind to survive in the most distant corners of the planet. But the contemporary way of exploiting animals in huge quantities and downgrading them to disposable products has nothing more to do with survival. We believe to be fundamentally different from animals, but the transitions are flowing, no matter if we consider it genetically, anatomically, biochemically, physiologically, ethologically or spiritually. Hence it is irrational to perceive animals as material values, and it is unethical to exploit animals without true need. The only solution consists in discerning our fellow animal beings not only by our intellect, but also by heart. It is high time to break through the stable wall between pets and slaughter animals.
